Paul Guy Bostelman Sr., age 74, of Swanton, Ohio, was reunited with his beloved wife and daughter on Sunday morning, March 1, 2026, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio Ebeid Hospice Center in Sylvania.
He was born in Wauseon on June 29, 1951, to the late Julian A. Bostelman and Ila (Keeler) Bostelman.
Paul was a 1969 graduate of Liberty Center High School. On Sept. 18, 1970, he married the love of his life, Alice R. Whitson. They shared more than 50 years of marriage before her passing on March 5, 2021. Together they built a life centered on family and friendship.
For more than 20 years, Paul dedicated his career to Gerken Paving, where he served as a respected foreman. He was a proud member of Laborers Union Local 500 and took great pride in his work and the many friendships he formed throughout his career.
An avid golf enthusiast, Paul especially enjoyed spending time on the greens at White Pines Golf Course in Swanton. Over the years, he achieved the remarkable accomplishment of 13 hole-in-ones — a testament to both his skill and his love of the game.
Beyond golf, Paul found joy in tending to his garden and gathering with friends for card games, particularly pinochle and euchre. His laughter, storytelling, and competitive spirit made every gathering memorable.
Paul is survived by his sons, Paul (Megan) Bostelman, Jr. of Swanton and Christopher (Lori) Bostelman of Liberty Center; son-in-law, John (Dawn) Gonyer of Weston, Ohio; grandchildren, Lexi (Josh) Creech, Levi Gonyer, Mariah (Luke) Bostelman, and Maci Bostelman; and his lifelong friend, Ehrhardt Gunther.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Alice Bostelman; his daughter, Lori Gonyer, who passed away on Aug. 30, 2016; and his brothers, Vernon “Pete,” Lonnie and Julian Bostelman.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Swanton American Legion, 200 N. Hallett Ave., Swanton, Ohio 43558. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
