Paul Edward “Pete” Butt, 83 years, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 in his residence. Pete was born January 26, 1936, in West Unity, Ohio, the son of the late Horace Edward and Margaret E. (McFarland) Butt.
Pete was a lumber cutter at the Ney Lumber Company for over 20 years. Pete had previously worked at LaChoy Foods in Archbold. He was a former race car driver, driving a 1955 Chevy with the number 37. He enjoyed tinkering with cars in his spare time.
Surviving is his sister, Jo Anne Balzer of Bryan; two nieces, Linda Balzer of Bryan and Terri Balzer, also of Bryan; two great nephews, Chad Balzer and Joshua Balzer both of Bryan; one great niece, Shannon (Erik) Strumm of Livonia, Michigan; five great-great nieces and one great-great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Hal Willard Butt; one sister, Wreatha N. Butt and one nephew, Michael Balzer.
There will be no visitation. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2019 at West Franklin Cemetery, Fayette, Ohio, with Ted Mathes officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Bryan.
