MONTPELIER – The Lady Locos of Montpelier jumped out to an early lead on April 16, but Paulding replied with two big innings and nine unanswered runs, holding off a late Montpelier rally in the process to score a 9-6 win on the road.

Wendy Duchene went the distance for Montpelier, and threw zeros at Paulding for five of the regulation seven frames. Those other two, the third and seventh innings, proved to be her undoing as Paulding lit her up for 4 and 5 runs respectively in those innings. Overall, she gave up 9 runs, 8 earned on 15 hits and 3 walks, fanning 4.
