(September 23rd, 2014)- Hosting Lenawee Christian, the Blackbirds of Pettisville, who have typically been dominant this season, showed they could play from behind as well. Being down 2-1 at the half, and 3-1 early inro the second, Pettisville battled back to win the match 5-3, avenging their lone tie of the year.

Lenawee was the first to strike, taking an 0-1 lead to start the game. In the match’s fifteenth minue, Blackbird Theory Eash served up a perfect corner kick, and Detric Yoder headed the ball for a goal to tie the game. Another Lenawee goal put them on top once again, and they went to the half leading.

Lenawee began the second half in style, landing an astounding 45 yard free kick through the Pettisville net, claiming a 3-1 lead three minutes in. The rest of the match, however, belonged to the Blackbirds, with their coach, Stan Roth, making the claim that they “played their finest thirty minutes of soccer so far this year.”

Goals by Brett Coopshaw, Mitchell Avina, Felipe Chavez, and Nick Davis elevated the Blackbirds to a 5-3 victory. Assists by Graeme Jacoby and Detric Yoder also made the victory possible.

The win puts Pettisville at 7-1-1 on the season.
