Phyllis Donaldson (1946 – 2024)

Phyllis S. Donaldson, age 78, of Delta, passed away at Heritage Village in Waterville on November 25, 2024.

She was born to the late Raymond A. and Ethel E. Hanthorn on July 16, 1946. Phyllis attended Lima Senior High School.

She married Daniel D. Donaldson and together spent many loving years until his passing on January 5, 2021.


Phyllis worked for Great Lakes Windows for 15 years, then served 3 years at Campbell Soup before retirement. She was a active and proud member of Mt. of Praise Church in Delta for several years.

Phyllis is survived by her three sons; Paul Thatcher, Thomas Eckhoff of Toledo and Robert (Jackie) Essex of Toledo; grandchildren, Joseph Thatcher, Rebecca (Ashely) Eckhoff, Brandon Eckhoff, Mark Eckhoff, Kaycie Eckhoff, Alexia (Trevor) Eckhoff, Justin (Courtney) Essex and Rachel Essex, many great grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Julie) McDonald of Lima; sisters, Ethel Marcum of Arizona, Beverly Boyters of Virginia and Teresa (Naaman) Hand of Celina, OH; along with three stepchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel D. Donaldson; daughter, Tammy Thatcher; daughter-in-law, Michelle Winterfeld; brothers, John A., Lowell, Ray and William L McDonald; sisters, Mary McCormick and Barbara Kelley and two stepchildren.


A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 29, 2024 at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 State Hwy 109, in Delta; with the receiving of friends and family prior from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM on Friday. Pastor Betty Fuller will be officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Grove Cemetery near West Unity, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers those wishing to show sympathy are asked to consider contributions to the family; care of her brother, Ronald McDonald.
