Phyllis Praet (1925 – 2023)

(Archbold Resident; Formerly Of Wauseon)

Phyllis E. Praet, age 97, of Archbold, Ohio, and formerly of Wauseon, Ohio, passed away Monday, August 14, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Care Center.

Phyllis was born in Napoleon, Ohio, on November 3, 1925, the daughter of Grover and Ruth Bressler.

She was a 1943 graduate of Napoleon High School. She married Walter Praet in 1951 and they made their home in Wauseon.

Throughout her life, Phyllis had various jobs and did volunteer work, but her primary occupation was that of homemaker.


In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, golfing, reading, doing needlepoint, traveling, and spending time at the lake with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Praet; a daughter, Trudy Bischoff, her parents, two brothers (Hugh and Paul Bressler) and four sisters (Marguerite Reighard, Zaida Lind, Alice Beal, and Lilian Clark.)

Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca (Larry) Christy and Tracy (Greg) Kuhlman, both of Archbold; six grandchildren: Ryan Christy of Weston, OH, Tracy (Ron) Garber of Liberty Center, OH; Trishia (Bischoff) Bergquist of Angola, IN, Todd (Jamie) Bischoff of Beaverton, OR, Betsy (Michael) Johnson of Pine City, MN; and Lauren Stotzer of Archbold. In addition, she is survived by 14 great-grandchildren: Jaeger, Rocco, and Liv Bergquist (Angola, IN); Zane, Morgan, and Blake Garber (Liberty Center, OH); Willa, Briggs, and Dax Bischoff of Beaverton, OR, and Samuel, Reyah, Kade, Audrey, and Caroline Johnson of Pine City, MN.


Visitation for Phyllis is Monday, August 21, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold. The funeral will immediately follow visitation at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Dale Kern officiating.  Interment will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery in Napoleon.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Fulton County Humane Society.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com.
