Pioneer Sesqui Study Club Begins 2013-2014 Year

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASesqui Study club began their new year meeting at the Pioneer United Methodist Church. Roll call was answered with members stating what era they would like to have lived in.

Guest speaker was C. Nicholas Walz, VP & Chief Medical Officer, CHWC. Dr. Walz spoke and explained some of the many changes that have been taking place at CHWC. He stated that the Government now takes surveys on all hospitals and told how the hospitals are rated. CHWC is ranked one of the top percentile over all. He told of the many wonderful art works that are displayed both in Bryan and Montpelier hospitals since all the remodeling.

Discussions at the meeting were as follows: Sesqui will be sponsoring the Senior Center Birthday Bingo party in October; we will again be selling pecans this year and orders are being taken to be given at the next meeting in October. We continue saving pop tabs for Ronald MacDonald House and box tops for the school. It was voted to buy 10 pair of gym shoes for NC elementary school. Also voted to donate money to the school to be used for the weekend backpacks they are filling with food for needy kids. Briefly discussed ideas for next year’s German Fest for Pioneer days. Also discussed the plans for our 60 year Diamond Jubilee to be celebrated on October 17, 2013 , the date of our regular October meeting.

Hostesses for the evening were Donna and Carol Eidenier. Refreshments and fellowship was enjoyed by all as members caught up on each other’s summer activities.
