Ramiro Garza, Jr. (1948-2022)

Ramiro Garza, Jr. age 74, of Delta, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. He was born on January 24, 1948 in Elsa, Texas to Ramiro Garza, Sr. and Julia (Saenz) Garza.

Ramiro attended Delta High School and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy. He later retired from General Motors – Defiance after 46 years of service as a crane operator.

When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed rooting for his favorite baseball team, Detroit Tigers; listening to Christian music and having a deep faith in the Lord.


Ramiro loved his grandchildren and supported them with their school and sporting endeavors.

He is survived by his children, Jaron (Lynn) Garza and Shanda (Josh) Verhoff; grandchildren, Ashleigh Cooper, Marcus Oldham, Isabela Garza, Ramiro Garza; Elijah, Jadon, Shiloh and Apphia Verhoff; step-sons, Mark and Ryan Strain and Jonathan Gomez; siblings, Romeo Garza, Ruby Smith, Rebecca Queen, Raquella Yoder, Rosie Szymanski, Ruth Bahringer and Roger Garza.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Ray Garza and first wife, Sandra Kay Dennis.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 4-7:00 p.m. at Grisier-Weigel Funeral Home, 400 W. Main St., Delta, OH. His funeral service will be Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in True North Church, 845 E. Elm St., Wauseon with Pastor Rex Stump officiating. Interment will follow in Wauseon Union Cemetery with military honors provided by Fulton County Honor Guard.


Memorial Contributions may be made to the Delta High School Athletics.
