A ribbon cutting was held for the Fayette Grove 9-hole Disc Golf Course on Wednesday, October 18th.

Disc golf is one of the newest editions to the Village of Fayette thanks to the Fayette Community Development Corporation and McCarthy Building Companies.

The project began earlier this year when McCarthy’s asked the Fayette CDC if there was anything they could do to support the organization.

CDC’s Karen King explained that she asked McCarthy’s Jon Nystrom if they would help with a disc golf course for the park, to which he replied yes.

Mr. Nystrom not only offered to help with the project, but he also offered to cover 100% of the project’s cost.

Later that year on Saturday, June 24th, around 20-25 workers from McCarthy’s volunteered their time to come out and help install the new disc golf course in the park.

During the ribbon cutting that was held for the new course, King offered her thanks to all those who helped with the project. These individuals included Stan Tipton who came from Fort Wayne to lay out the course, John Ryan from Archbold who also helped with the course and registered it online, Jon Nystrom, Mat Johnson, Fayette’s Village Council, Department of Public Works, and Mayor Dave Borer.

The Fayette CDC continues to work hard in its goal to help the community. To this end, more revitalization efforts continue in the park in addition to the disc golf course.

A tether ball set and Gaga Ball Kit have been purchased in order to continue with that goal. These new additions will be installed on the southern end of the park, near the playground, and towards the end of the ball diamond.
