A special ribbon cutting ceremony took place Saturday evening during the Swanton Chamber Block Party, honoring a beloved local landmark.
Hubs Swantucky Pub, one of the oldest businesses in Swanton, is celebrating 80 years in operation and 10 years under the ownership of Mike Westmeyer.
The ribbon cutting was held at 7 p.m. in front of the pub at 109 Zeiter Way, right in the heart of Swanton’s DORA district. The ceremony was part of the village’s first block party of the year, drawing a large and supportive crowd.
Originally established in 1945, Hubs has long been a neighborhood staple known for its welcoming atmosphere, cold drinks, and small-town charm.
Over the past decade, under the guidance of Westmeyer, a proud veteran and active community supporter, the bar has continued to build on that legacy.
Westmeyer’s ownership has been marked not just by maintaining a popular local hangout, but by giving back in meaningful ways.
Hubs has supported local school plays, donated to the Swanton Rec for new sports equipment, and helped organize the Wild Game Dinner fundraiser benefiting both the Swanton High School Athletic Boosters and recreation programs.
The Swanton Area Chamber of Commerce organized the ribbon cutting in recognition of both the business’s longevity and the positive impact Westmeyer has made over the last ten years.
