Richard Karl Nagel, age 85, of Archbold, passed away Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Dick was born on January 26, 1941 in Napoleon, Ohio, to Karl and Mildred Nagel, who preceded him in death.
After attending Liberty Center High School, Dick joined the United States Army, from 1961 – 1964, where he served in Korea as a supply specialist. On May 27, 1983, Dick married Melanie Gors at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Archbold, where he has since been a member.
Dick retired from Gendron, Inc, Archbold in 2007, where he worked as their purchasing manager. He had also worked at Handy & Harmon, LaChoy Food Products and Vernier True Value in Archbold, and at the Gambles Store in Wauseon.
Dick enjoyed golfing, fishing and building/flying remote control airplanes. Two of his greatest thrills were getting a hole-in-one at the Wauseon Golf Course and going skydiving while living in Florida. He loved to go for a slow ride out through the country looking for deer and eagles.
Dick is survived by his wife Melanie, daughters Sherry (Mark) Goldsmith, Karla (Doug) Ball, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, along with brothers Dave and Tom Nagel, and sisters Carol Ludeman and MaryAnn Levien.
Visitation for Dick will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Archbold. A celebration of his life will be Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at St. Martin’s, with Pastor Steve Basselman officiating. Inurnment will be at the Archbold Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Archbold American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the care of Reese Collins, a family member very special to Dick.
