Richard “Dick” Stoepfel (1943-2022)

Richard “Dick” William Stoepfel, 78, of Montpelier, Ohio, passed away on the evening of October 4, 2022, at Swanton Valley Healthcare Center in Swanton, Ohio, following a recent illness.

One of thirteen children, Dick was born on October 7, 1943, to Victor and Zelma Goedde Stoepfel of Deshler, Ohio.

He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

A longtime resident of Fostoria, Dick retired from Roppe Corporation.

He enjoyed camping and fishing with his wife, Becky, his brother (and best friend) and sister-in-law, Gene and Elaine, as well as the Hossler Family; Dick was also an avid stamp and coin collector.

Dick is survived by his wife Rebecca Rinebold Stoepfel, whom he married on December 2, 1967, their son Edward “E.J.” (Toni) Stoepfel of Zanesville, one granddaughter, Hannah Stoepfel of Canal Winchester, and one grandson, William Stoepfel, also of Zanesville. Additionally, Dick is survived by siblings Gene (Elaine) Stoepfel, Jim (Jan) Stoepfel, Mike (Karen) Stoepfel, Tony (Cheryl) Stoepfel, Rosie (Tom) Phillips, Mary (Jack) Rutherford, Maggie (Tom) Thomas, Judy (Don) Cusac, and sister-in-law Jane Stoepfel.

Along with his parents, Dick was preceded in death by siblings John Stoepfel, David Stoepfel, Robert Stoepfel, and Elizabeth Eiseman. 

In accordance with his wishes, no services will be observed.
