Robert “Bob” Molson (1929-2018)

Robert “Bob” Molson age 89 passed away Thursday morning Nov 1st at Community Hospitals and Wellness Center Montpelier, OH.

Bob was born June 10, 1929 in Akron, Ohio to the late Charles D. Molson and Emma (Sandsberry) Molson. As a young boy he served as a Western Union Telegram messenger during WWII. He graduated from Hower Vocational High School (he studies photography) and Central High School.

After High School he joined the Navy and served during the Korean War. He was trained as an Aviation Photographer and Motion Picture Cameraman. Bob took photographs from military airplanes for reconnaissance during the war. He served in the Navy for 9 years and rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer Grade E7. After leaving the Navy, Bob worked as a Graphic Artist and worked the majority of his career at Mansfield Graphics in Commercial Advertising.

After leaving the Navy he met and married Frances Carol Graham who preceded him in death. He lost his daughter Kathy Marie Molson unexpectedly at the age of 12. During the grief process Bob and Fran helped create the parent support group Compassionate Friends. They helped many parents through the grief process for a decade.

Bob was president of the Richland Camera Club for many years, he had a life long love of photography. He found art in all the world around him. Bob attended St. Peters Catholic Church for over 52 years. His church and church family were a blessing to him. Bob was a loving father who will be missed greatly. Bob’s kind words and gentle smile will be remembered by all who knew him.


Surviving are his sister; Mary(Jack) Hamilton, Union Town, OH. His children; Rob Molson of Columbus, Ohio. His daughters Claudia (Tom) Kochert Edon, Ohio and Suzanne (Mike) Buck, Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Nicole (Ravi) Yarid; Ann Arbor, MI., Sarah (Evan) Krill; Lacey, WA., and Alex Kochert and Brooklyn Sheffer; Bryan, OH. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in Mansfield Ohio where Bob will be laid to rest beside his wife.
