Robert “Red” Langenderfer (1937 – 2024)

Robert L. “Red” Langenderfer, age 86 of Swanton, Ohio; formerly of Delta, Ohio; peacefully passed away in his home Thursday morning, August 29, 2024.

He was a devoted family man and a cherished member of his community.

Red was born December 13, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio to Robert Leo and Evelyn (Dickerson) Langenderfer. On December 16, 1972, he married Evelyn Osterhout. She preceded him in death in July of 2016.


Red dedicated 30 years of his life to his career as a factory worker for BTL of Toledo. Following his retirement, he found joy in driving cars for ABC Auction and Price Pro, where he continued to engage with others.

A proud member of the Delta Eagles, Red contributed his time there as a bartender. His friendly nature made him a beloved figure among friends and patrons alike.

In his leisure time, Red was an enthusiastic supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Detroit Tigers, and the Toledo Mud Hens. His passion for sports complemented his vibrant personality, and he was known for his spirited discussions about games and teams.


Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Rose Hazel, Dianne (David) Tressler, and Christine Langenderfer. He is also survived by his stepdaughters, Sandy (Mike) Tracy, Rebecca Wade, Cindy (Bob) Collins, and Brenda Burkheimer, and his brothers, William (Lois) Langenderfer and Wayne Langenderfer.

Red was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, Red’s legacy will live on through his family, who loved him dearly.

Besides his beloved wife, Evelyn, Red was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Langenderfer; stepdaughter, Carlotta (Smith) Galbraith; and his sister, Carol Horak Herr. Each of these individuals held a special place in his heart.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 6th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Weigel Funeral Homes in Swanton, where funeral services will begin at 12:00 (Noon). Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.


Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
