Rodney Britenriker (1943 – 2024)

(1962 Graduate Of Archbold High School)

Rodney J. Britenriker, 81 of West Unity, Ohio and Punta Gorda, Florida passed away on Thursday August 29 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 11, 1943 to Edward J. and Grace (Dominique) Britenriker.

He was a 1962 graduate of Archbold High School. Rod proudly served in the United States Army where he dedicated himself to his country with great honor.

In younger years he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Miller Brothers Construction and later was co-owner of Britenriker, Grieser, Norden (BGN) LP Gas Company in Stryker.

Rod married Debra Barnum on December 3, 1988 in Archbold, Ohio and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Wendy (John) Edwards, Melanie (Tim) Hausch and Matthew Britenriker. Stepchildren Amber Austin and Ryan (Amy) Huffman. Special nephew Dave (Sue)Barnum. Many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. And many other very dear friends.


Rod was a die-hard Ohio State Buckeye fan and loved flying small airplanes every chance that he could. He also loved playing golf with his friends and especially his brother, Mike when in Florida.

He was a member of the West Unity American Legion Post 669, and a lifetime member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Archbold.

Loved ones gone before him are his parents, Eddie and Gracie Britenriker. Brothers Eddie Joe(Phyliss) Britenriker, Mike (Joyce) Britenriker and Ben Britenriker. Also his in-laws, Cloice and Mary Barnum.


Visitation for Rodney J. Britenriker will be held from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday September 3 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Archbold. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday Sept 4 also at the church with Father Bill Phifer officiating. Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Stryker, where Military Rites will be accorded by members of the West Unity American Legion Post 669.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St Peter Catholic Church or to Elara Caring Hospice.

Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with arrangements.
