Roger Shirkey (1954 – 2017)

Roger Lee Shirkey, age 63, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice, one year and one day after being diagnosed with Advanced Stage 4 Cancer.

Prior to his retirement in November, 2016, he had worked as an Area Leader at Frozen Specialties in Archbold for 43 years.

Roger was born in Wauseon on February 10, 1954, the son of Paul R. and Donna (Demaline) Shirkey. He was a union member of the UFCW #75. He enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Surviving are his daughters, Sherry Shirkey of Perrysburg and Michelle Shirkey of Florida; granddaughter, Sydney; father, Paul (Sharon) Shirkey of Rudolf, Ohio; ex-wife and best friend, Shannon Lauber of West Unity; brother, David (Welton Fitz) Shirkey of Toledo and sister, Sharon Ryan of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Donna and Norm Miller, and step-father Phil Moody of Camden, Maine.
There will be no funeral services. Interment will be in the Rudolf Cemetery in Rudolf, Ohio. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to CHP – Defiance Inpatient Hospice. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with arrangements.
