Roscoe-Malcolm-Moore WEBRoscoe Malcolm Moore, 85, of Montpelier passed away early Sunday morning at Hillside Country Living in rural Bryan. Roscoe was born on November 8, 1929 in Montpelier to Verl and Eva (Gregg) Moore. A 1947 graduate of Montpelier High School, Roscoe participated in many sports; basketball, track, and was a member of the 1946 co-champion football team.

After high school he joined the Air Force during the Korean War. Following his active duty he graduated from Fort Wayne’s International Business College. He worked for the Aro Corporation in Bryan for three years before moving to Montpelier to work at Winzeler’s Stamping Company as a sales coordinator. He retired from Winzeler’s after 25 years. Roscoe was a member of the Montpelier Moose.

In 1957 Roscoe married Carolyn A. Everhart and she survives. He was a very special man and the perfect daddy to his three girls, Lori (Scott) Martin of Montpelier, Tammy (Jim) Lee of Montpelier and Kristine (Jeff) Kaminski of Monclova, Ohio. Roscoe was a doting grandfather to his seven grandchildren, Tyler and Kelsi Martin, Stacy, Wesley and Trenton Shoup, and Kyle and Austin Kaminski. He is also survived by his brother Howard (Dawn) Moore of Marble Lake, Michigan; and sister-in-law Honey Moore of Montpelier.

Roscoe was well known for his dancing skills, the jitterbug was his favorite in his younger years. He and Carolyn were still able to dance at two of their grandchildren’s weddings. He enjoyed bowling, a good hand of poker at Rowe’s and he always enjoyed a game of golf. Roscoe was a charter member of Hillcrest Country Club. He was also an avid reader and frequent visitor of the Montpelier Public Library, where he was one of the original members of the Friends of the Montpelier Public Library.
Roscoe was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Richard, Ronald and Marvin.

Visitation for Roscoe will be on October 27th from 3-7pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. Services will be private with Reverend David Tilly to officiate. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier with military rites provided by the Montpelier Veterans.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Friends of the Montpelier Library. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com
