Rose Marie (Wells) Foster, age 86, of Defiance, Ohio, passed away Thursday morning, June 22, 2023 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.
Rose was born on December 5, 1936 to Clifford and Alice (Whitten) Wells. She graduated in 1954 from Fulton High School in Swanton, Ohio.
Rose was a 4-H advisor, Cub Scout leader, member of Veteran Motor Car Club, Defiance Hospital Auxiliary and Defiance Christian Church.
Rose married James W. Foster on July 20, 1974, and he preceded her in death in 2014.
Rose was employed as a secretary at Fulton County Agricultural Office, Pilliod Cabinet Co., and was a pharmacy technician at Defiance Hospital, where she retired.
After retirement, she volunteered at Defiance Hospital, and served 5 years as Volunteer Director.
Rose is survived by two step-sons, Charles Foster and James Ray Foster; two step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, James, Rose was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Ray Foster; and a brother, Fred Wells.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 29th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where funeral services will begin at 12 (Noon), with Pastor George Shaver officiating. Interment will follow at Dutch Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Defiance Christian Church, 955 Standley Rd., Defiance, OH 43512 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
