VARSITY BASEBALL

Wauseon 15, Patrick Henry 0

The Indians’ pitchers Brady Rupp and M. Barajas combined for a two hitter to help Wauseon climb to 3-0 in NWOAL play. Rupp pitched two innings and gave up two hits while striking out two. Barajas followed and threw three innings of shutout baseball while striking out three. At the plate, it was the nine run fourth that put the game in the bag for the Indians. Travis Smith was 3 for 4 with three RBI to lead the attack. Josh Whitcomb, JJ Kaufman, Carter Bzovi and Franklin Peralta all collected two RBI. Kaufman, Smith and Peralta connected for three hits apiece as Wauseon accumulated 12 hits in the win.

Montpelier 2, Swanton 1

After the Bulldogs tied the game 1-1 at the top of the fourth, Montpelier answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth ten held on for their second win of the season. Wyatt Beck got the complete game win for the Locomotives facing 27 batters. He allowed five hits with five strikeouts. Noah Johnston took the loss for Swanton facing 22 batters allowing five hits with three strikeouts. Kolden Uribes was two for three to lead Montpelier. Colin Rockey, Gunnar Matson and Wyatt Gulick contributed with one hit each, Matson with a double. Roman Epley was two for three for Swanton on two singles. Jordan Nyler’s two hits included a single and double and Jonny Shanks finished one for three.

Hilltop 10, Fayette 0


Quinn Smith hurled a three-hit shutout and struck out five as the Cadets blanked Fayette. Hilltop produced seven RBI on 12 hits. Isaac VanArsdalen and Levi Grant had two RBI apiece for the Cadets. Cole Haynes, Smith, and Jacob Champion contributed one each. Drake Bowditch, Joel Smith and Travis Wagner had the trio of hits for the Eagles. Smith took the loss for Fayette going all six innings and giving up 12 hits with three strikeouts.

Archbold 8, Delta 6

Archbold improved to 9-3 overall and 3-1 In the NWOAL with their two-run win over the Panthers. Lathon Babcock was four for five at the plate with a RBI. Seth Mayer’s two for three batting produced a RBI and Bryce Williams’ two hits drove in a pair of runs for the Bluestreaks. Austin Sayen led Delta with three RBI on two doubles and Aaron Abbott finished three for four. Derek Walker got the win for Archbold throwing four innings giving up no runs on four hits with three strikeouts. Gabe Freeman was the losing pitcher.

VARSITY SOFTBALL


Hilltop 24, Fayette 0

Bailey Funkhouser threw a no-hitter for the Cadets and struck out five in the BBC win. A Schmitt drove in a season high seven runs on two hits including a single and triple. Funkhouser helped herself with four RBI on two hits also on a single and triple. J Knapp, Veronica Roth, A Brown and Z Abner contributed with two RBI apiece. Adding one RBI for the Cadets were A Wyse, A. chaper and S. Rivera. Blosser was on the mound for the Eagles and threw the complete game with two strikeouts.

Wauseon 6, Patrick Henry 5

The Indians trailed 5-2 as the seventh inning began, but four seventh inning runs propelled them to the one-run NWOAL victory. Regan Spadafore drove in four runs for Wauseon on two hits including a single and double. Ally Tefft and Erin Douglass drove in two runs each. Tefft was three for four with her bat including a single and double. Alisa Shelt threw the complete game giving up three runs on eight hits while striking out nine.

Swanton 6, Montpelier 5


The Locomotives three-run seventh left them just short in this NWOAL clash. H. McMahon was three for four with two doubles and a RBI to lead the Bulldogs. B. Fox collected the other RBI with a single. Their third RBI was knocked in by O. Williams with a single. H. Suffel led Montplier at the plate with two RBI on two doubles. M. Schilt was two for three with two singles and a RBI, R. Stoy was two for four with a RBI and E. Prekop finished two for four with two singles. A. Lawson was the winnig pitcher allowing nine hits while striking out one. P. Houk took the loss allowing six hits with four strikeouts.
