BRYAN – In a press release, Bryan City Schools announced the appointment of Scott Staten as the new varsity head football coach.

Bryan Athletic Director, Nathan Keel, expressed excitement about Coach Staten taking over the program saying, “We are thrilled to have Coach Staten as our new head coach. Scott’s passion for the game, vision for our student athletes, and attention to detail shined through during this process.”

Staten was previously an assistant coach with the Golden Bears and the offensive coordinator. Before joining Bryan in 2020, Staten was the head coach at Edon from 2010-2019 where he went 54-49 and had a one year stint with Bryan as an assistant in 2009.

Staten is equally as excited to jump in the driver’s seat again by stating “I would like to thank the Bryan City Schools Board of Education and Administration for the opportunity to lead the Golden Bear football program.”

“We will build young student athletes that are going to be positive contributors to society and through football, become the best version of themselves.”

“We will emphasize hard work, discipline and accountability and focus on the process; the outcomes will take care of themselves.”

“I am extremely excited for this opportunity and cannot wait to give back to such a supportive community with the product we put on the field on Friday nights.”

Staten takes over for Grant Redhead who stepped down in November with the intent to retire from coaching after nine years as the head coach.
