Special Olympics Of Williams County Competes In Area Track Tournament

On Saturday, May 6, 2017 seven Williams County athletes traveled to Sylvania Southview High School in Sylvania, OH to compete in the Area 4 Special Olympics Spring Games Track Tournament. This tournament is required to allow athletes to compete at the State Special Olympics Summer Games Track Tournament in June. The MC for the event was Newscaster Chris Peterson and athletes participated in Opening Ceremonies with a walk around the track and introduction to the crowd. Athletes and placings were:

Division 15 (30-end) – Softball Throw – Jeremy Allomong 3rd place & Duane Moore 3rd place
Division 3 (30-end) – 50M Run – Jeremy Allomong 5th place & Duane Moore 2nd place
Division 3 (22-29) – Softball Throw – Audrey Benner 2nd place & Samantha Tingley 1st place
Division 1 (22-29) – 100M Walk – Audrey Benner 5th place
Division 3 (22-29) – Standing Long Jump – Tyler Good 1st place
Division 3 (22-29) – 50M Run – Tyler Good 3rd place
Division 1 (16-21) – Running Long Jump – Alan Jones 2nd place
Division 1 (16-21) – 800M Run – Alan Jones 1st place
Division 1 (22-29) – 50M Run – Samantha Tingley 4th place
Division 5 (30-end) – Softball Throw – Joni Warner 3rd place
Division 2 (30-end) – 100M Walk – Joni Warner 3rd place

In all Williams County came away with 3 Golds, 3 Silver, and 5 Bronze. Thanks to all the volunteers, coach Beth Votaw, and sponsors for the event.
