Sterlus “Pete” Watts (1938-2020)

Sterlus “Pete” Watts, age 82, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal rest, Sunday afternoon, December 6, 2020, at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born July 24, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio to Irene Viola Schondel. Pete was a 1957 graduate of Swanton High School.

On June 25, 1960, he married his beloved wife, Margaret Rose Pawlaczyk.  She preceded him in death on April 9, 2015.

Pete was an Insulator for 35 years, and member of Insulators Local 45. He retired in 1993. He was a member of St. Richard Catholic Parish, Swanton Elks Lodge #2462, and the Moose Lodge. Pete enjoyed playing golf, yard work, and watching football and cowboy movies. He especially enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife, Margaret and his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Michele (Jeff) Gillen, Phillip (Coleen) Watts, Christopher  (Tamara)Watts, Val (Julia) Watts and Tammy (Danny) Baker; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Norbert (Pam) Mossing and sister, Karen Mossing; brother-in-law, John (Luette) Pawlaczyk;   sister-in-laws, Marie (Eldon) Dickmann and Janet Pawlaczyk.

Besides his loving wife, Margaret, Pete was preceded in death by his mother, Irene; stepfather, Norbert Mossing; brother, William Watts; brother-in-law, Aloysius Pawlaczyk.


Services at St. Richard’s Catholic Church will be private.  A public memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics.
