Steven S. Hays (1941 – 2017)

Steven S. Hays, age 75, of Montpelier, passed away at 10:07 P.M. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Center near Defiance.

Mr. Hays was a truck driver and had been a Bridgewater Township Trustee since 1983. He was a former member of the Montpelier Moose.

Steven S. Hays was born on October 28, 1941, in Bryan, the son of James A. and Sarah J. (Richard) Hays. He married Sandra K. O’Neal on March 2, 1963 at the Bridgewater Church and she survives.

Steven is also survived by his children, Sharla (Lindy) Kirkingburg, of Montpelier, Brian (Lori) Hays, of Wauseon and Jodi Hays, of Montpelier; five grandchildren, Abbie (D.J.) Apple, of Montpelier, Ashley (Anton) King, of Alvordton, Alex Kirkingburg, of Montpelier, Nicole Bowers and Nathan Bowers, both of Redding, California and his sister, Gloria Kay Barrett, of Montpelier. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held in Lake View Church, 4616 East Territorial Road, Camden, Michigan on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Services will be held immediately following the visitation with Pastor Ben Gladhill officiating. Private graveside services for the family will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Krill Funeral Service, Bryan, Ohio


In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center or Lake View Church Impact Center.
