Stryker Rotary Listens To District Rotary Foundation Chair Member At Regular Meeting

Stryker Rotary WEBJoe Ludwig, District Rotary Foundation Chair, spoke to the Stryker Rotary Club on their regular meeting on November 24, 2015 about The Rotary Foundation. “Doing Good in the World” is the motto of the foundation and support is provided in the form of grants for many projects that keep this motto alive. When donations are given to the Annual Fund all of the funds are used for grants. 50% of the money is used for global projects and 50% of the money is used for local projects. An additional incentive at the current time is that donations will grant double points towards a Paul Harris Award. Rotarians donate money and those same Rotarians apply for grants to assist people in need both locally and around the world. In the year 14-15 twenty-three local grants were distributed for a total of $63,000. Rotarians are encouraged to give at least $100 per year to the annual fund. Last year Rotarians in district 6600 gave an average of $63 so we are falling short of our goal. Joe also informed the club that this is the first year that the district did not have sufficient funds to support all of the grant requests so some of the grants were denied. Joe spoke as a guest of Stryker Rotary President Ruth Wieland. Joe and Ruth are pictured.
