The public got a first hand look the remodel of the portion of the building that was originally built back in 1957. Held from 4-6 p.m. just prior to a band concert in the newly refurbished performance auditorium, the Open House allowed attenders to see the two new Pre-School classrooms, and the incredible Shop that includes an upstairs area.
The brand new kitchen where Industrial Arts teacher Mr. Matt Arnos teaches Ag, Food and Natural Resources (the new name for Home Ec) to students in High School and part of a required 8th grade one semester class, is big and fresh, ready for some fun cooking projects.
The Band Room is airy and full of bright light pouring in through the windows instead of dark and contained as it has been for years. There are two levels to the remodel and the Weight Room is upstairs along with the new room focused on STEAM projects taught by Technology Integration Specialist Mr. Larry Freshour.
Band Director Mr. Dustin Maroon is thrilled with the extras he has available to him in the new auditorium and showed how he can raise and lower specific lighting right form his own phone due to the computer program that is installed. All of these lovely new rooms look out on the Main Street of Stryker, letting the students see the town of which they are a part.
