Swanton Public Library Announces Schedule Of Events For March

Thursdays, March 2, 9, 23, and 30 from 10:15 am to 11:45 am – Intro to Yoga. Join us for a series of yoga classes taught by Aimee Strohbeck. Please bring a yoga mat and towel and wear comfortable clothing for easy movement. No experience necessary. Class fee is by donation with proceeds benefiting the library. There will be no class on March 16.

Thursdays, March 2, 9, 23, and 30 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Chair Yoga. This class involves the same poses done in other yoga classes, but modified to make them gentler while sitting or sometimes standing with a chair for balance and support. Class fee is $5. No yoga mat is required for this class. There will be no class on March 16.

Mondays, March 6, 20, and 27 from 10:15 am to 11:45 am – Beginning Yoga. This class is slightly more advanced than the Thursday morning yoga class, offering students an opportunity to expand their skill level. Class fee is $10.00 per session with multi-session tickets available. Please bring a yoga mat and towel and wear comfortable clothing. There will be no class on March 13.

Mondays, March 6, 20, and 27 from 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm – Evening Yoga. Class fee is $10.00 per session with multi-session tickets available. Students are asked to bring a yoga mat and towel and to wear comfortable clothing. There will be no class on March 13.


Tuesdays, March 7, 14, 21, 28, Apr 4, and 11 at 10:30 am – Storytime. Weekly classes offered at Swanton Library for children ages 6 months to 5 years. Children go down on the farm through stories, music, and crafts. Free. No registration required.

Wednesdays, March 8, 15, 22, 29, April 5, and 12 at 4:30 pm – Storytime. Weekly classes offered at Swanton Library for children ages 1 to 5 years. Children will go down on the farm through stories, music, and crafts. The start time is a little later this session. Free. No registration required.

Wednesday, March 8 at 4:30 pm – Board of Library Teens (BOLT) meeting. New members welcome!


Thursday, March 9 at 7:00 pm – Adult book discussion led by Marty Kaback. This month’s topic is the novel The Perfect Girl by Gilly MacMillan. Copies are available at the front desk.

Monday, March 13 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm – Essential Oils. Come to the library for a brief introduction to essential oils and their relationship to health and well-being. Registration is required; please call us at 419-826-2760, come in, or visit our website.

Wednesday, March 15 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm – Anime Club for grades 6-12. This month, we’ll try different types of pocky along with other snacks and drinks, and watch three episodes of anime chosen by the attendees. Free!

Thursday, March 16 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm – Attention Seniors! If you need help or have questions about Medicare, insurance, bill paying, or assistance programs, set up an appointment with Val Edwards from the Fulton County Senior Center. Call 419-337-9299 to schedule an appointment.

Thursday, March 16 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm – Cardmaking. Our ongoing series of cardmaking classes with instructor Anna Geis continues in March with some wonderful springtime cards. A $5.00 supply fee covers three cards. Children 8 years and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Registration is required; please call us at 419-826-2760, come in, or visit our website.


Saturday, March 18 at 10:30 am – Fire Station Visits! for grades K-5. Learn about firefighting and fire safety this month at the library with special guests from Swanton’s own fire station! We’ll read firefighting books, have a firefighting craft, and of course meet real firefighters. Register online, at the front desk, or by phone.

Monday, March 20 at 7:00 pm – Swanton Public Library Board of Trustees meeting. The public is welcome to attend.

Thursday, March 23 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm – Intro to Guitar. Is learning to play guitar on your “someday” list? Come to the library to get a brief introduction from our own Adam Walter. Participants can sign up in half-hour blocks to ensure more one-on-one instruction. This program is free; registration is required. Please bring a guitar if you have one.

Wednesday, March 29 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm – April Fools’ Day Party for grades 6-12. Come to the library for a party all about celebrating silliness and pranks! We’ll have funny prank videos to watch, a cupcake eating contest, silly games to play, and of course lots of snacks! Registration is not required. FREE!

Thursday, March 30 at 7:00 pm – Intermediate to Advanced Guitar. Have some guitar knowledge already? Improve on your skill set with our own Adam Walter. This program is free; registration is required. Please bring a guitar.
