Thomas Hug (1938 – 2025)

Thomas A. Hug, age 86, of Bryan, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Tom was a die setter at Hayes-Albion for 55 years until the closing of the plant. He was also a farmer raising steers and hogs for many years.

Tom was a US Army veteran serving from 1958-1960 and took basic training with Elvis Presley at Fort Hood, Texas.

Tom was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Blakeslee. He coached the Farmer girls softball team for several years.

Thomas A. Hug was born on December 10, 1938, in Edon, Ohio, the son of Wilford A. and Muriel M. (Goebel) Hug. Tom was a 1956 graduate of Edon High School. He married Sandra Ann Miller on November 19, 1960 in Blakeslee and she survives.

Tom is also survived by his children, Jackie (Jamie) Singer, of Defiance, Jeff (Kelly) Hug, of Bryan, Julie (Todd) Wiles, of Edgerton and Jason (Lori) Hug, of Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Leroy “Dugan” (Donna) Hug, of Edon and William (Barb) Hug, of Archbold, Ohio; five sisters, Linda Muehlfeld, of Blakeslee, Norma (Tom) Yaggy, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Pat Juhl, of Angola, Indiana, Sue (Tom) Aschleman, of Auburn, Indiana, and LuAnn Swary, of Seminole, Florida; sister-in-law, Rose Hug, of Bryan; brothers-in-law, Larry Manley, of Pioneer and Nick (Lisa) Miller, of Columbus and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lyle Hug and one sister, JoAnn (Harry) Wolfe; brother-in-law, Leo Muehlfeld and sister-in-law, Sonda Manley.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan followed by a recitation of the Rosary at 5:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 6324 OH-15, Defiance, OH 43512 with Rev. George Wenzinger and Rev. John Stites officiating. Tom will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Blakeslee with military rites at 2:30 pm on Monday.
