Thomas Karnes (1944-2021)

Thomas Eugene Karnes, age 76, of Cedar Hill, Missouri, formerly of Edgerton, Ohio, died on January 29, 2021, at St. Clare Hospital, Fenton, Missouri. He was born on September 1, 1944, in Edgerton, Ohio, the son of Raymond and Ethel (Baker) Karnes.

Tom graduated from Edgerton High School with the class of 1962. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He retired from BF Goodrich, in Woodburn, Indiana, with over 30 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy (Simpson) Karnes; sons, Terry (Cheryl) Karnes, Thomas (Teresa) Karnes, Ted (Michelle) Karnes; daughter, Jessie (Jason) Williams; stepson, Steven Church; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sister, Muryel Stark; half-brothers, Joseph Hug, Jerry Hug, and Phillip Hug; half sister, Vicky Mays; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were a daughter, Tasha Karnes; a great-granddaughter, Kinley Flower; brothers, Adam Case Karnes and Terry Woodruff; sisters, Pauline Hug and Elma Burbank; and a half brother, Anthony Hug.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Kutis Funeral Home, Affton, Missouri. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 9:00 A.M. at Kutis Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend.


A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. All are welcome to attend this event.

Due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions, the family will receive friends while observing social distancing precautions. The family requests visitors use masks in accordance with state mandates. Anyone showing any symptoms of illness is asked to please share condolences by a phone call, email, text message, or leaving a condolence at the funeral home website.

Memorial contributions are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
