Thomas J. Lumbrezer, age 89, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Monday afternoon, January 12, 2026, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Ebeid Hospice Center in Sylvania, Ohio.
He was born December, 25, 1936, in Swanton, Ohio to Clarence and Martha (Hassen) Lumbrezer.
Tom went to the farmer’s market in Detroit with his brother, Joe for Bettinger Farms as a delivery boy from age 10 and continued at the farmer’s market with his brother, Joe until 1963.
In 1963, Tom grew vegetables and sold them at the market with his wife, Margie by his side until they retired in the fall of 2014.
Tom was the first at the Toledo Farmers’ Market to grow and sell large Candy Onions as well as his early ripe tomatoes and his all yellow Golden Nugget sweet corn.
On June 25, 2015, Tom and Margie received the President’s award at the 35th annual meeting from the Area Office on Aging of Northwest Ohio in recognition of outstanding contributions to Senior Citizens and the Field of Aging.
Tom also worked and retired from the Pilliod Cabinet Company shortly before they closed. He had heart surgery in 2003 and was diagnosed with cancer in 2019. With his many health issues over the past few years, Tom is finally at rest.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margie; sister, Irene Warniment, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph (Charlotte) Lumbrezer, Jack (Rita) Lumbrezer and Melvin (Mary) Lumbrezer.
Visitation was held Sunday, January 18th, at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Visitation continued Monday, January 19th, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, where a Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Jeremy Miller and Msgr. Dennis Metzger presiding. Interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Assumption.
