Thomas Taylor (1948- 2018)

Thomas Dean Taylor Sr., age 70, of Swanton, with his family by his side; passed away early Friday morning, February 16, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee.  He was born on January 20, 1948 in Toledo to the late, John R. Taylor and Doris (Sherry) Taylor who survives.  Tom was a 1966 graduate of Rogers High School.  On July 3, 1971 he married Ruth Bronson in Toledo and together shared 46 loving years together.

After working for the railroad for nine years, Tom was a self-employed roofer with T&T roofing for over 30 years.  He enjoyed several interests, including raising and riding large breed horses in parades and public events, power lifting and most of all wrestling; where he greatly supported his sons and grandsons in the sport, along with spoiling his beautiful daughter and granddaughters.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Ruth F. Taylor; mother, Doris Taylor; children, James (Wendy Waggoner) Osborn, William (Linda Ziegler) Taylor and Thomas “Dean” (Justine) Taylor Jr., Tammy Taylor; brother, Bruce Taylor; sister, Tracey Cothran; grandchildren, Brandee (Mark) Burns, Tiffany Osborn, Alexis and Arika Ziegler, Caitlin and Abigail Taylor, Brett and Evan Perry, Charlee Keefe and Peyton, Ryllie and Gunner Taylor; great granddaughter, Lily Burns, John (Jana) Taylor, Taylor Start and Tj Taylor; April Taylor; along with his canine companions, Lucy and Ricky.  In addition to his father, John R. Taylor, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Taylor and nephew, William “Boo” Taylor.

Friends will be received from 10:00 – 12:00 Noon on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta; with an memorial service celebrating Tom’s life beginning at 12:00 Noon.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing a show of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to the family.  Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.
