valentine-robert-szczypkowskiValentine Robert Szczypkowski, age 74, of Delta, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday night, October 12, 2016. He was born in Witzelmuhle, Germany on February 6, 1942 to the late Konstanty and Bertha Szczypkowski. Val attended Woodward High School in Toledo before entering the U.S. Army and serving during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Starkey on November 8, 1969 in Toledo, OH and she survives.

Val served as a supervisor for Wonder Bread Co. for over 45 years. He was a member of the Delta Eagles. Val had many interests; including watching and feeding birds, gardening, enjoying NASCAR while following driver Jimmie Johnson, he was a huge Penn State and Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. The hobby he enjoyed the most was fishing; especially at French Lake in Wisconsin and the Coasts of Florida. (Julie) Szczypkowski of Howell, MI, one sister, Bertha Berendt of Toledo and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wilhelm Szczypkowski.

Friends may visit with the family and celebrate his life from 3:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 State Route 109 in Delta. A memorial service honoring his life will begin at 7:00 PM also on Tuesday at the funeral home. Pastor Eric Markovich will be officiating. Interment will be private.
