BRYAN (September 7, 2024) – Fairview’s high-powered offense was slowed down for the first 2 1/2 quarters as Bryan used their running game to keep the Apaches’s offense on the sidelines.

Fairview would catch fire with a William Zeedyk touchdown pass early in the third quarter and two more in the fourth to Logan Olinger as the Apaches pulled away for a 34-6 win at Golden Bear Stadium.

Bryan consumed almost half the first quarter clock with a 13-play drive led by the running of Dameon Wolfe, but the Bears would have to punt it away after the drive stalled near midfield.

Fairview went to work on their first drive starting at their own 34-yard line converting a pair of third downs to advance to the Bryan 21.

From there Fairview struck for the first time as Zeedyk found Logan Gavin Meade in the left corner of the end zone for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead at the 2:22 mark.

After the teams traded possessions, Bryan put together a scoring drive with Wolfe carrying the load and after a 16-yard pass by Cade Carlin to Carter Dominique, Wolfe scampered 36 yards for a score to make it 7-6 after the missed extra point.

The Apaches answered with their own 13-play drive that consumed the remaining 6:30 of the second quarter clock.

Zeedyk used his legs with an 18-yard run and then a 23-yard run on fourth down to set Fairview up with a first-and-goal at the three-yard line.

Facing fourth-and-goal, Zeedyk hit an open Gavin Garza on a one-yard touchdown pass as time expired in the half to extend the Fairview lead to 13-6 after a failed two-point conversion attempt.

Fairview started the second half by returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown, but it was called back due to a penalty.

The Apaches would shake it off and need just five plays to hit paydirt as Zeedyk went to sophomore Brody Williams for a 16-yard strike to make it 20-6 early in the third.

Bryan marched to the Fairview 16-yard line on their first possession behind the running of Wolfe and a couple completions by Carlin. Facing a third-and-five at the 16, Wolfe was stopped for no gain and Carlin was sacked on fourth down to end the drive.

Fairview’s next drive ended with a turnover as Dominque forced and recovered a fumble at the Fairview 19. Bryan would be unable to take advantage as a sack and three incompletions would give the ball back to Fairview.

Fairview would put the final touches on the win in the fourth starting with Zeedyk hitting a wide-open Olinger on a 41-yard yard touchdown to make it 27-6 with 8:40 to go.

Two minutes later, Zeedyk tossed his fifth touchdown of the night as he went back to Olinger, this time for 40 yards, for the Apaches final score of the night with 6:01 left.

Zeedyk finished 21/25 for 222 yards to go with five TDs and Olinger hauled in four catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns.

Wolfe ended the night with 154 yards on 25 carries and a touchdown.
