(Active Member Of Bryan Kiwanis Club)

Von Roderick Plessner, age 76, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026, at Majestic Care of Bryan.

Von was born June 7, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late Paul C. and Shirley R. (Meyers) Plessner.

He was a 1967 graduate of Anthony Wayne High School and remained a lifelong learner. He obtained a Ph.D. in education from the University of Toledo (2013), a Master of Business Administration from the University of Toledo (1990), a Bachelor of Science from Defiance College (1988), and an Associate of Applied Business from Northwest State Community College (1985).

On March 28, 1968, Von married Kathryn A. Croy in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Together they shared nearly 58 years of marriage filled with love and devotion.

Since 1984, Von dedicated himself to teaching at numerous institutions, including Northwest State Community College, Defiance College, Bluffton University, Jackson Community College, Tiffin University, and Trine University.

Most recently, he specialized in teaching statistics and quantitative methods in the MBA program at Trine University. In 2014, he celebrated the remarkable milestone of teaching more than 10,000 students across over 900 course sections. His passion for education continued until his death.

Von was an active member of the Bryan Kiwanis Club, generously dedicating many hours of service. He also served on the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), which allowed him to travel throughout the country.

Above all, Von cherished his family. Known lovingly as “Bop” by his four great-granddaughters, he would do anything for them. He treasured time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughters. Von enjoyed playing board games and welcomed friendly competition.

From fishing in the Maumee River as a young boy, he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors and fishing. He was lovingly supported by his granddaughter, Megan, and daughter, Liz throughout his health decline over the past year.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Plessner of Bryan, Ohio; three children, Bruce (Jennifer) Plessner of West Unity, Ohio, Elizabeth (Todd) Casper of Noblesville, Indiana, and Eric (Melissa) Plessner of Bowling Green, Ohio; five grandchildren, Amanda Plessner, Megan (Anthony) Antigo, Teran Erickson, Dylan Peters, and Naethan Peters; four great-granddaughters, Addie, Gracie, Kaylie, and Brylie; and six siblings, Mark, Dirk, Neal, Brenda, Penny, and Candy.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Bryan Kiwanis Club. Condolences and fond memories may be shared with the family at www.oberlinturnbull.com.
