(Lifelong Swanton Resident)

Walter J. Hallett II, a lifelong resident of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Friday morning, November 29, 2024, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 28, 1944 to Walter James and Virginia Harriet (Leow) Hallett, Walter dedicated his life to his family, faith and profession.

He proudly served in the Army in 1968, receiving an honorable medical discharge, before embarking on a career in real estate and building.

As a broker/owner of Hallett Realty, and President of W.J. Hallett Inc., Walter not only managed the family business, but also showcased his skills as a carpenter, personally building numerous homes in the Northwest Ohio area.

His contributions to the community through his work will have a lasting impact and will be remembered by many.

Walter was a 1962 graduate of Swanton High School and received his associates degree from the University of Toledo, laying the foundation for a successful career.

Among his proudest accomplishments was marrying his beloved wife, Ann Blodgett, on August 3, 1968. Together, they built a loving family, which thrives today. Walter was a devout lifelong member of St. Richard Catholic Church in Swanton.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Ann; his children, Walter J. (Mary Kay) Hallett III, Stephen C. (Dawn) Hallett, Julianne (William) Marshall, and Monica (Ryan) Pataky; as well as cherished grandchildren, Erin, Kaylan, Lauren, Jenna, Billy and Walter J IV.. Walter also leaves behind his siblings, Frances Brushaber, Dennis Hallett, and Mike (Sue) Hallett, sister-in-law, Theresa Hallett, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Kathryn Hallett and several siblings, including Anne Drummond, Amy Trausch, Barbara Dudek, Dori Skalski, Sherman Hallett and Mary Clark.

Family and friends will gather to honor Walter’s memory during visitation on Tuesday, December 3rd, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where a Vigil Service will begin at 7:30 pm. Prayers will begin in the funeral home Wednesday, December 4th at 10:30 am, followed by a procession to St. Richard Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am, with Fr. Eric Culler presiding. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow at St. Richard’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Richard Catholic Church, 333 Brookside Dr., Swanton, OH 43558.
