Warrior Wings in Wauseon has recently unveiled their new dining room mural that holds great meaning and significance entitled “Chicken on a Mission.”
Situated on the second busiest intersection of Shoop and Linfoot, local favorite Warrior Wings is known for its fresh, made-to-order chicken wings, and convenient online ordering for takeout.
Good food aside, Warrior Wings isn’t just any ordinary restaurant. Their mission is to support veteran groups that give back to the community such as the American Legion, VFW, Returning American Warriors (RAW) of Napoleon, HOOVES Equine Therapy of Swanton, and Task Force 20 of Grand Rapids.
The restaurant owner, Brock Nagel, son of the late Dale Nagel and Linda Poole Cook, is an Army veteran himself who spent many of his summers in Wauseon as a child growing up.
Following his service in the Army, Nagel eventually returned to the Northwest Ohio area with his wife to raise their children in a small, close-knit community that Wauseon has to offer.
Seeing the need for a great chicken wing spot, Nagel opened Warrior wings in February 2020.
Warrior Wing’s stunning piece of wall art depicts five warrior chickens holding wing sauce bottles instead of artillery, which represent Nagel and his four brothers who have all served or are currently serving in the Army or Marines.
The mural also features five military vehicles that represent their respective branches and expertise: F18 Hornet, CH-47 Chinook, AH-64 Apache, M109 Howitzer, and M1A2 SEP Abrams tank.
US Navy veteran Dean Davis from Grand Rapids, Ohio created the work of art.
It was a collaborative effort between the restaurant owner and the artist to create a mural that would not only showcase the restaurant’s dedication to supporting veterans but also honor the owner’s family’s military service.
