17 Boy Scouts from Troop 8 attended the Chinquapin District Spring Camporee over the May 13-15 weekend. It was held at the Toledo Ohio Air National Guard Base which is home to the 180th Fighter Wing. 273 scouts and scouters from Fulton, Henry, Williams and Defiance counties camped on the base, which set a new record as the largest camporee attendance in the history of Chinquapin District and also the highest for any camporee in all of Black Swamp Council. Scouts spent most of the day Saturday attending several tour sessions to learn about the responsibilities of the different departments at the base. They watched F-16 fighter jets take off and were able to walk up inside a C-17 cargo plane. They also enjoyed a Sunday morning worship service at the chapel on the base. Troop 8 Committee Member, Curt Fauver, served as Camporee Chief for this event. Christ United Methodist Church charters Troop 8 and is very proud of the fact that the troop it charters is enriching the lives of not only the local scouts, but also the scouts of the entire Chinquapin District. Curt Fauver is pictured with Troop 8 Scout, Kane Panico. The group had their picture taken in the test cell for airplane jet engines. Pictured are: Back Row L to R: Shawn Hanson, Justin Freestone.
