The Wauseon Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual golf classic on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Ironwood Golf Club in Wauseon.

The yearly event brings together local businesses and community members for a day of friendly competition, all in support of a greater cause.

Proceeds from the tournament go toward scholarships awarded to Wauseon students upon graduation. Funds are raised through team registrations, with each team contributing $300 to participate, as well as through generous event sponsorships from area businesses.

Participants competed for roughly a dozen prizes donated by local businesses. Special opportunities throughout the course included Hole-in-One prizes, Mulligans, String, and a 50/50 Raffle.

More than just a tournament, the golf classic offers a day of connection and fun while helping to support the educational goals of local youth.

Food and refreshments were provided to golfers throughout the event, with a full meal served once the tournament concluded. Before play began, a few words were shared in memory of former Chamber Director Bill Drummer, who recently passed away. A moment of silence was held in his honor.

During opening remarks, it was also announced that Alex Cook had officially been named the new Director of the Wauseon Chamber of Commerce.

Cook, who is also the owner of Red Rambler, shared his excitement for the future. “I am really excited to move forward with the Chamber, and it has been an honor getting to know Bill over the last year that I had with him,” said Cook.
