NEW ASSISTANT CHIEF … Former Delta Police Chief Nathan Hartsock (right) is sworn in by Wauseon Police Chief Kevin Chittenden as Wauseon’s new assistant police chief at the July 17 Wauseon City Council Meeting.

Business regarding the Wauseon Police & Fire Departments were at the forefront of the July 17th, 2023 meeting of the Wauseon City Council.

Former Delta Police Chief Nathan Hartsock was sworn in by Wauseon Chief Kevin Chittenden as he begins his new role as assistant chief of police.

In his department report, Chittenden told council Rebecca Roller has accepted the position of personal assistant to the police chief.

Under second reading of legislation, council approved Resolutions 2023-7 and 2023-8 awarding pay raises to officers, full-time dispatchers, and records technicians.

With two council members absent, Mayor Kathy Huner cast the deciding yes vote on each resolution as councilors Shane Chamberlin and Sarah Heising voted in favor of the resolutions and councilors Steve Schneider and Harold Stickley voted against.

Also, Brian Baden and Tony Druhot were sworn in by Mayor Huner as new members of the Wauseon Fire Department.

Council also approved the first reading of a resolution authorizing the mayor to sign the quote from Zoll Medical Corporation, dated July 12, 2023, for the purchase of supplies for the fire department and declaring an emergency.

John Myles addressed council regarding the Fulton County Historical Society. Myles informed council of several things that the society is working on.

He went on to express his thankfulness to the City of Wauseon for their cooperation and willingness to always help the Historical Society.

The next meeting of the Wauseon City Council is scheduled for Monday, August 7, 2023 at 5pm
