Wauseon Lady Indians Post A 1 And 2 Mark At The Ayersville Great 8 Tourney

AYERSVILLE, April 12, 2014: The Lady Indians traveled to Ayersville to compete in the “Great 8 Tournament on Saturday, April 12, posting a 1 and 2 mark on the day.

vs. Wayne Trace

Taking on the Wayne Trace Raiders, the Lady Indians managed just 6 hits on the game and were unable to cross the plate in a hard fought 1-0 loss. Sam Norman went the distance for the Lady Indians in the loss, giving up just 6 hits and allowing 1 run while striking out 8 batters.

Offensively for the Lady Indians, Hayley Chamberlain had a good morning at the plate, going 3 for 4, but was unable to cross the plate. Olivia Banister also recorded 2 hits in the game while Faith Hicks recorded the remaining hit.

Wayne Trace 1 – 6 – 0

vs. Tinora

Brooke Whipple pitched a near perfect game against the Lady Rams from Tinora, giving up just 4 hits and posting the shutout in the lady Indians 9-0 rout of the Lady Rams. Whipple recorded 4 strikeouts while allowing only 2 base on balls in the victory.


Olivia Banister held the hot bat for the Lady Indians at the plate, going 3 for 3 with 4 RBI’s in the win. Faith Hicks went 2 for 3, driving in 3 runs; Whipple, in addition to her brilliant game on the mound, chipped in a 2 for 4 performance at the plate, driving in 2 RBI’s. Tiffany King went 2 for 2 while Breanna Coblentz scored off of 1 hit in the game.

Tinora 0 – 4 – 3

vs. Napoleon

Sam Norman took to the mound for the Lady Indians vs. the Napoleon Lady Wildcats, putting in a nice effort allowing just 6 hits in the game but the Cats were able to advance 4 runs in the game, dropping the Lady Indians in a tight 4-3 game. Brooke Whipple also put in 2 innings of work in the loss, allowing no hits and no runs.

Ashley Smith belted out 2 hits at the plate for Wauseon, while Olivia Banister connected for a hit with an RBI and a run scored. Faith Hicks also chipped in 1 hit with an RBI in the loss.
