Wauseon Swimmers And Divers Compete At Sectionals

(February 14th, 2015) – AYERSVILLE: Both the Wauseon Boys and Girls Swim and Dive Teams made the trip to Ayersville to take part in Sectional competition. Several members of each squad qualified for Districts, to be held in Bowling Green.

For the Indian divers, Cody Fry and Tony Schweinhagen each qualified to advance, as Schweinhagen took seventh place at the meet, while Fry claimed eighth. The Lady Indians also fared well in diving action, with Patience Bachman, Jordan Sloan, Alexis Witt, and Jenna Rhodes all moving on as well, with the girls taking second, fourth, seventh, and eighth places respectively.

In Wauseon girls swimming, the 200 meter medley relay team of Alexis Meyer, Kate Precht, Alexys Carteaux, and Emily Bray took fifth place with a time of 2:03.35. In the 200 meter freestyle relay, Carteaux and Meyer joined forces with Kasey and Sydney Darnell to earn a third place finish at 1:46.81. That same group took first place in the 400 meter free relay with a time of 3:55.26.

Kasey Darnell also had a first place finish in the 500 meter free race thanks to her time of 5:22.04. She also had a first place finish in the 200 meter freestyle race, completing it in 2:02.87. Sydney Darnell earned a second place finish In the 100 meter fly race, finishing the event at 1:02.87. In the 200 meter IM race, however, she was able to secure first place at 2:17.07.


Lady Indian Swimmers moving on to Districts include Emily Bray, Alexys Carteaux, Kasey Darnell, Sydney Darnell, and Alexis Meyer.

For the Wauseon boys, the 400 meter freestyle relay team of Seth Hutchison, Derek Rupp, Nick Dilworth, and Austin Schuette earned a second place finish at 3:33.99. In the 200 meter freestyle relay, that same group took third place with a time of 1:39.15.

Austin Schuette won the 500 meter freestyle race, swimming a 5:02.23. Nick Dilworth was right behind him in second place with a time of 5:04.9. Dilworth also laid claim to third place in the 200 meter freestyle race, with a time of 1:53.04. Derek Rupp earned third place in the 100 meter freestyle, finishing the race at 54.02. He also claimed third at the 50 meter freestyle at 24.34.


Qualifying for the boys Districts are Nick Dilworth, Seth Hutchison, Derek Rupp, and Austin Schuette.
