(Dedicated Member Of Lyons Village Council)
Veteran

Wayne A. Rogers, age 69 of Lyons, Ohio passed away at his home with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. He was born on December 5, 1954 to Carlyle Wayne and Ruth Ann (Patrick) Rogers in Toledo, Ohio.

Wayne dedicated 17 years of his life to Evergreen Schools, leaving an indelible mark on the institution and the countless lives he touched.

His commitment to the betterment of young minds will forever be remembered by students, colleagues, and the community. In addition to his contributions to Evergreen, Wayne invested over 20 years of his life in service to Oakshade Raceway.

His passion for motorsports and tireless efforts to enhance the racing experience for fans and participants alike left an enduring legacy at the raceway.

Wayne also played a role in local governance as a dedicated member of the Lyons Village Council. Before his time at Evergreen, Wayne had a rich history in HVAC work, showcasing his skills and expertise in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.

His craftsmanship and attention to detail in this field were evident in every project he undertook, leaving a lasting impact on the comfort and well-being of those he served.

With a brief yet honorable service in the United States Air Force. Wayne’s commitment to serve his country, even during a short tenure, reflects his dedication and sense of duty.

Wayne’s legacy is not only defined by his professional achievements but also by the warmth and kindness he extended to everyone he encountered. He was a beloved husband, father, friend, and family member whose absence will be deeply felt.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Karen (Bernath) Rogers; brother, Ethan Rogers (Roseanne); sister, Tamara (Rogers) Starkey; and half-sister Gaynelle (Rogers) Mick. Wayne’s legacy extends through the generations with his beloved children: William Rogers (Tera), Marisa Court (Todd), Michelle Hathaway, Amanda Spurgeon, and Tiffany Spurgeon. His precious grandchildren: Alexis Bender, Austin Hathaway, Seth Hathaway, Tyler Silveous, Anastasia Baker, Serenity Rogers, Zalena Bender, and Tia Posley. His great-grandchildren: Amara Williams and Odin Williams. His great grandchild on the way, due in February 2024.

In addition to those mentioned surviving Wayne, and probably still are shaking their heads at his sarcastic smart-ass remarks, are a plethora of other family members, friends, and loved ones.

Those who had the distinct pleasure of being on the receiving end of Wayne’s quick wit and irreverent sense of humor will undoubtedly carry those unique memories in their hearts forever.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carlyle Wayne Rogers and Ruth Ann (Patrick) Rogers, sisters Patricia Ann Rogers and Carla (Rogers) Barnhart.

The family will gather with family and friends on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, 219 S. Fulton St., Wauseon, Ohio. This will be an informal gathering where all are welcome to Celebrate Wayne’s life.
