WCHD Announces Up Coming Free COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

June 24, 2021No Comments3 Mins Read

The Williams County Health Department has developed community talking points in an effort to provide useful information as we work together to prevent COVID-19 spread in our community.

  • In the past 7 days (June 16th – June 23rd), there have been 6 new cases, 0 hospitalizations, & 0 deaths reported. As of 6/17, Williams County is ranked #7 out of 88 counties based on its cases per capita. Williams County has had 38.2 cases per 100,000 population in the last 2 weeks (no longer high incidence), but is much higher than Ohio’s average of 26.8 cases per capita.
  •  Vaccine Status in Williams County

-Great news: The 65 and older age group has done extremely well getting their COVID-19 vaccines. Over 81% of the 65+ age group have received their first COVID-19 vaccine and about 79% have completed the series. The vaccine is saving lives! There have been zero COVID-19 hospitalizations in Williams County in over 6 weeks. This is the longest we have been without a hospitalization due to COVID-19 throughout the entire pandemic.

-Room for improvement: Williams County is lagging behind the state for vaccinations among the 59 and younger age groups. While the number of new COVID-19 cases is currently low, it is still important for our younger population to get vaccinated before there is another spike in outbreaks. Last summer, there were fewer COVID-19 cases during the summer months but a drastic increase in cases in the fall and winter. This shows that seasonality can be expected with the COVID-19 virus. If not enough of our population is fully vaccinated, we will see an increase in cases & hospitalizations this fall.

-The WCHD would like to encourage everyone 59 and younger to get their COVID-19 vaccine. We have a COVID-19 vaccine RESERVED FOR YOU at the health department!

  • Getting the COVID-19 vaccine can be convenient! Free vaccine clinics are being held at the following locations:
