WCHD Encourages Williams County Residents To Stay In Touch With Loved Ones From Home

April 7, 2020Updated:April 8, 2020No Comments2 Mins Read

During this time of the year, many Williams County families typically gather together to celebrate their religious beliefs or out of tradition. Due to COVID-19 or coronavirus, these celebrations will look different this year with social or physical distancing and other measures in place across the state of Ohio.

Social or physical distancing, however, does not have to mean social isolation. The Williams County Health Department encourages families to stay in touch with their friends and loved ones without physical contact.

Family members can use computers, cellphones, and tablets to message and call loved ones while staying safe inside their own homes. Return to the practice of writing and mailing letters.

Take advantage of social media and video apps to support each other, laugh together, and take care of each other until the Stay at Home Order is lifted. Every Ohioan has a part to play in helping to save lives. For many, this will mean staying at home.

Governor Mike DeWine & Dr. Amy Acton, Director of the Ohio Department of Health, extended the order that requires all Ohioans to stay home until May 1st to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

The Stay at Home Order requires people to remain home unless they have an essential job or are doing an essential task, prohibits holding gatherings of any size, and closes all nonessential businesses across Ohio. These measures and orders were put in place to keep the community safe and prevent the fast spread of COVID-19.

According to public health experts at the Ohio Department of Health, many Ohioans are infected unknowingly with COVID-19 and spread the illness to others before they show any symptoms. Slowing the rate of the infection by staying home is critical to save lives.

This is a rapidly evolving situation. To ensure you are obtaining accurate information about COVID-19, please visit the Ohio Department of Health’s website (https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/) for updates. If you have questions regarding Coronavirus/COVID-19 please call 1-833-4-ASK-ODH (1-833427-5634).
