Willadene Moore (1925 -2024)

Willadene Mae Moore, 98, of Montpelier, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on December 30, 1925 in Montpelier to Clarence and LuLu (Wolff) Fisher.

Willadene graduated from Montpelier High School in 1944. On November 6, 1943 she married John E. Moore in Montpelier, and he preceded her in death in November of 1995.

Willadene retired from A&P grocery store in Montpelier where she worked as a grocery clerk for approximately 25 years. She volunteered for many years at See and Do in Montpelier, belonged to the Montpelier Ladies of the Moose, and was a member of the Montpelier Eagles Auxiliary.

Willadene is survived by her son, John (Jana) Moore of Haslett, MI; grandchildren, Kimberly (Doug) Stout of Lewisville, NC, Kristofer (April) McMillen of Alvordton, OH and Brandie (Jamey) Tenney of Allendale, MI; eight great grandchildren, Karsan Stout, David Pinc, Alexandra Stout, Cal Tenney, Lilly McMillen, Kaidynce Stout, Azaela Tenney and Emersan Stout; siblings, Clarence (Helen) Fisher, Jr. of Bryan, Tom (Barbara) Fisher of Montpelier.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John E. Moore; son Dale Gene Moore; two daughters, Dolores M. Moore and Carol A. McMillen; brother, Warren Fisher; and two sisters, Margaret Welling and Mary Michaels.


A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at First United Methodist Church in Montpelier. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 12:00 pm at the church with Pastor Eric Dailey to officiate. Interment will take place at West Franklin Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Willadene’s memory to Defiance Inpatient Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be left for the family at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com.
