William G. BarryWilliam “Bill” G. Barry, 82, of Montpelier passed away Monday morning at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier. He was born on March 10, 1934 in Plymouth, Michigan to George and Vera (Thomas) Barry. Bill graduated from Waldron High School in 1953. He then served his country in the United States Army for three years. Bill married Marjorie A. Mercer on March 31, 1954 in Angola, Indiana and she survives.

Bill was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Montpelier. In 2002 he retired from the Aro Corporation in Bryan as a machinist. He had also worked at various other businesses in Northwest Ohio over the years. He was a member of the Montpelier Moose and the Williams County Harness Horseman’s Association. Bill loved golfing, horses and was a big Michigan fan.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie; seven children, Rick (Deb) Barry of Montpelier, Nancy (Craig) Sipe of Clearwater, Florida, W. Kent Barry of Blaine Arkansas, Jodie (Joel) Best of Blakeslee, Robert C. Barry of Montpelier, Rebecca S. Barry of Montpelier, and Kimberly J. (Matthew) Mead of Lowell, Michigan; eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two brothers, Norman Barry of Hudson, Michigan and Walter Barry of Pittsford, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Clara Moore.

A time to receive friends will be on Thursday, June 16th from 4-8pm at the Thompson-Geesey Funeral Home on Empire Street in Montpelier. A private interment will take place at Shiffler Cemetery with Pastor Jeffery Bischoff to officiate, and military honors provided by the Montpelier Veterans. Memorial contributions may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or Evergreen Manor Activity Fund. Condolences can be left at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com.
