William H. Shaffer Jr.

William Bill ShafferWilliam H. “Bill” Shaffer Jr., 83 years, of Bryan, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Montpelier with his family by his side. Bill was born June 19, 1932 in Wauseon, Ohio to the late William H. and Bernice L. (Bryan) Shaffer Sr. Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean War era. He married Dolores P. “Dolly” Johnston on February 25, 1956 in Angola, Indiana. Bill worked at Challenge Industries Inc. as a welder for over 20 years until his retirement in 1994. Bill and his wife Dolly were a member at Grace Community Church in Bryan. In his free time Bill enjoyed traveling with Dolly. They have visited all 50 states and most of North America. When he was not traveling he liked watching nature and enjoying the simple things in life.

Surviving is his wife, Dolores; three children, Michael (Deb) Shaffer of Bowling Green, Ohio, Michelle (Scott) Badman of Edgerton, Ohio, and James Shaffer of Salisbury, North Carolina; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-greatgrandchildren; one brother, Arthur (Cora) Shaffer of Delta, Ohio; four sisters, Dolly Tidd of Dayton, Ohio, Virginia (Orval) Rockey of Bryan, Ohio, Marylin Munday of Bryan, Ohio, and Pat (Bill) Friend of Ney, Ohio. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Angela Wells; one great-granddaughter, Lacy Nicole Badman, and one sister, Marie Hill.

There will be no visitation and private family services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to Grace Community Church, 206 West Bement Street, Bryan, Ohio 43506.
