PRESS RELEASE – The Williams Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) will be offering a series of workshops to help landowners enhance and manage their land.
Who do you ask for HELP? Come, learn, and have your questions answered by those who actually have years of hands-on experience!
The first session ‘Conservation on Private Lands’ will be held on February 19 from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Ohio farmers and landowners have an opportunity to improve their land, support wildlife, and receive conservation funding through the Wildlife Habitat Initiative (WHI). The WHI supports habitat for grassland birds, pollinators, and other native wildlife.
Craig Bonner, ODNR Division of Wildlife, Wildlife Management Consultant, will explain the practices included: brush management; brush pile; grass and wildflower planting; multi-species cover crop; successional habitat; edge feathering; hedgerow planting; herbaceous weed treatment; natural communities; native pasture planting; prescribed burning; riparian forest buffer; tree/shrub establishment; upland habitat management; and windbreaks/shelterbelts.
The following programs are included in this year’s series: Tree Planting & Maintenance on March 12, Local Landowners Share Hands-On Experiences on April 16, and Beyond Bees & Butterflies on May 14.
The workshops will be held on Thursday evenings starting at 7 p.m. at the Williams SWCD office at 11246 State Route 15, Montpelier.
For more information and to register call 419-636-9395 or ask for Tam Stage or Anne Marie. There is no cost to attend, but in case of inclement weather, we would like to notify people of possible changes.
The Williams SWCD is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
