Wilma Studer (1928-2022)

Wilma J. Studer, age 94, longtime resident of Delta and recently of Reading, MI, peacefully passed away under hospice care at the McGuire Skilled Nursing Facility of Hillsdale Community Care Center in Hillsdale, MI.

She was born at home in Monclova Township on April 9, 1928 to Floyd Frost and Pearl (Walbolt) Frost  Wilma graduated from Waterville High School and on April 19, 1947, she married Rolland “Rollie” Studer after his return from serving in WWII.

Together Rolland and Wilma shared 62 loving years together until his passing on April 12, 2009.

Before retiring, she served as a school cook with the Pike-Delta-York Middle School and Elementary.

Wilma enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, fishing, canning and of course cooking family meals; of which she was known for her dressing and coffee cake.  Wilma also liked mowing her yard, calling out the numbers during the family tradition of Christmas bingo and watching a good game of college football and basketball.


Having a giving heart, she often volunteered her time sorting clothes at the Open Door in Delta and June’s Place Thrift Store in Reading, MI.

Wilma was a past member of the Delta United Methodist Church and most recently attended Reading United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children, Marcia (Bob) Ricker and Gene (Linda) Studer; grandchildren; Mike (Julie) Ricker, Erin (Wes) Deck, Kori (Matt Hammond) Studer, Kasey (Kelly) Studer, Kelsey (Jeremy) Gillen, Kurt (Amber Folkema) Studer, Kip (Rachel) Studer, Kayte (Dustin) Cass and Kassi (Nick) Raabe; 16 great grandchildren, and one on the way; 7 great great grandchildren and nephew, Jim Frost.


She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Panning in 1978; granddaughter, Kellie Studer, brother, James Frost and son-in-law, Tom Panning.

Friends will be received from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at the Delta United Methodist Church, 101 Northwood Dr., Delta Ohio 43515; where a funeral service honoring Wilma’s life will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 10, 2022. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta. Pastors Deborah Cole and Kent Winkler will be officiating. Interment will follow at Raker Cemetery in Delta.

Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Delta United Methodist Church; Reading United Methodist Church, 312 Michigan St., Reading, MI 49274 or June’s Place Thrift Shop, P.O Box 43, Reading, MI 49274 in Wilma’s memory.
