Zale Harvey (1928 – 2018)

Zale A. “Zeke” Harvey, 89 years, of Bryan passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance. Zeke was born May 31, 1928 in Archbold, Ohio, the son of the late Othal and Beryl (Smith) Harvey. He was a 1946 graduate of Stryker High School. Zeke served in the United States Army during World War II from 1946 to 1948.

He married Sue Ann Gordon on June 16, 1951 in Bryan, Ohio and she preceded him in death on September 11, 2013. Zeke worked at ARO Corporation for 44 years retiring in 1993. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bryan Moose Lodge 1064 and Bryan Eagles Arie 2233. In his free time, Zeke enjoyed spending time outdoors, golfing, and drinking coffee with his friends at Welcome Home Restaurant. His real passion was helping others and enjoyed teaching children how to water ski at Sunset Cove, Marble Lake.

Surviving is his son, Kent Harvey of Bryan, Ohio; granddaughter, Hope (Brad) Farrell of Toledo, Ohio; sister, Pat Holser of Paulding, Ohio, and Iris Grieser of Pettisville, Ohio; brother, Ward Harvey of Bryan, Ohio and brother-in-law, Brit (Wanda) Gordon of Pleasant Lake, Indiana. Zeke was preceded in death by his wife, Sue; son, Douglas Harvey; brother, Clement Harvey; three sisters, Verlene Jordan, Janice Spiess, Hazel Knapp, and Muriel Bloir.

Memorial Services for Zale A. “Zeke” Harvey will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 509 Center Street, Bryan, Ohio with Pastor Mary Beth Smith-Gunn officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Memorial Service at the church, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Private interment will take place in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.


Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Condolences may be sent to the family or the online guest book may be signed at www.oberlinturnbull.com
