There’s No Place Like Hope! Is the theme for the 2020 Relay for Life in Williams County. Six delicious soups were sampled and voted upon at the First Brethren Church on County Road C in Bryan, on the evening of January 28, 2020.
Those gathered were there to start off the efforts of Relay for Life for a new year, and did so by placing money in containers placed near the soups to vote on their favorite. There were other fundraisers present as well, all to benefit Relay for Life which is a branch of the American Cancer Society.
The 2020 Co-leaders are Ashley Hamman and Jodie Arkright, pictured behind the soup table. The young ladies are excited to be able to help others by leading the committee in plans for the year, all leading up to the Relay for Life Walk which will be held on June 12 and 13, for eighteen hours, at the Williams County Fairgrounds in Montpelier.
Teams are formed to raise money as they walk in June and six of those teams which are already formed were present at the Kick-off. There are twenty five teams already formed and by the time the Walk is held there will be many more.
The committee which is pictured with the co-leaders seated in the center, meets for planning sessions twice a month and are the people responsible for all of the detail coverage at the big walk event. The meetings are open and all are welcome to attend, with the next meeting being held at CHWC Conference Room on March 19 at 5:30 p.m.
Also at the event were Miss Williams County Brianna Bell and Jr. Miss Williams County Felicity Thiel, who enjoyed visiting with all who came and giving their support to this great cause.
